Comparison
NoSite vs scraping Instagram yourself
Both routes end with a list of businesses that have no website. They differ in how many hours you spend, how often the pipeline breaks, and who carries the risk. Here is the comparison we would want if we were choosing.

Scraping Instagram yourself is cheaper in cash and more expensive in everything else: a working pipeline takes days to build, breaks every few weeks as Instagram changes, needs residential proxies and session management, and leaves you holding personal data under your own name. NoSite costs between 24 and 38 cents per revealed contact and nothing to browse, and the qualification, deduplication and re-checking are already done.
Side by side
| Your own scraper | NoSite | |
|---|---|---|
| Time to first qualified lead | Two to five days of building, then minutes | Minutes |
| Time per 100 qualified leads | One to three hours of babysitting once running | Under ten minutes of filtering |
| Cash cost | Proxies from about 30 dollars a month, plus any paid scraping service, plus your hours | 0.24 to 0.38 dollars per revealed contact, browsing free |
| No-website qualification | You write and maintain the rules | Applied to every lead before it enters the pool |
| Business type and location | Manual or your own classifier | AI-classified on every lead, filterable |
| Freshness | Only as fresh as your last run | Around a thousand new leads a day, existing leads re-checked |
| Breakage | Login walls, blocked data-centre IPs, markup changes, rate limits | Handled upstream, invisible to you |
| Legal exposure | Yours: terms of service, personal data you hold | Public business data only, removal on request, do-not-contact flags |
| Automation | Whatever you build | REST API, MCP server for AI agents, CSV export |
| Best for | Engineers who want full control and a very specific niche | Designers, developers and agencies who want to pitch, not maintain tooling |
What building it yourself actually involves
The happy path looks simple: search a hashtag, collect the post authors, open each profile, read the bio link. In practice each step fights back. Instagram's public profile endpoints refuse requests from cloud IP ranges, so you need residential proxies. Hashtag pages fail when you ask for more than a few dozen posts at once, so you paginate slowly. Sessions get challenged and need a real logged-in account, which puts that account at risk. Every few weeks a field is renamed and the parser silently returns empty results until you notice your list stopped growing.
Then comes the part nobody budgets for: qualification. Deciding whether a Linktree counts, whether a Square ordering page counts, whether a parked domain counts. Working out that a profile is a bakery in Manchester and not a bakery supply wholesaler in Ohio. Re-checking last month's list because a third of those owners may have launched a site since. This is where the hours go, and it is precisely the work NoSite has already done.
When scraping yourself is the right call
- You are an engineer and enjoy the maintenance.
- Your niche is so narrow that no shared pool covers it.
- You need data fields no marketplace exposes.
- Volume is tiny and you would rather spend an evening than a few dollars.
When NoSite is the right call
- You sell web design, development or digital services and your time is worth more pitching than scraping.
- You want to filter by country, city and business type today, not after a build.
- You want leads that stay current without re-running anything.
- You want a CRM or an AI agent to work the pool through a documented API or MCP server.
What NoSite does not do
It does not scrape on your behalf or let you point it at arbitrary accounts. It does not sell private data or contact details a business has not published. It does not send messages for you. It is a qualified pool with a fair price per contact, and it stops there on purpose.
Frequently asked questions
- Is scraping Instagram for leads legal?
- Collecting information a business has made public on its profile is generally lawful, but Instagram's terms prohibit automated collection, unofficial scrapers break often, and privacy laws such as GDPR still apply to any personal data you store. The safer route is to use only public business data, honour removal requests, and contact businesses about a service relevant to what they already do.
- Is NoSite an Instagram scraper?
- No. NoSite is a curated lead pool built from public business profiles, not a tool that scrapes Instagram for you. It collects only information a business has published on a public profile, never private accounts or messages, and it removes any listing on request from the business owner.
- How much do credits cost?
- Credits come in three one-time packs paid through PayPal: Starter is 50 credits for 19 dollars, Growth is 200 credits for 59 dollars and Scale is 500 credits for 119 dollars. Credits never expire, and every pack includes the REST API and the MCP server.
- How fresh are the leads?
- New businesses are added around the clock. On a typical day the pool grows by roughly one thousand profiles, and the homepage shows the live count. Existing leads are re-checked on a schedule, and a business that launches a website or goes inactive is hidden from the catalog.
